Here we go again!The ECHA has released two SVHC candidates for public comment

The European Chemicals Agency has issued a notice on its website inviting the public to comment on the two SVHC candidates.

On 1 September 2020, the European Chemicals Agency issued a notice on its official website inviting the public to comment on the two SVHC candidates.If no strong objection is raised during the evaluation, the Substances will be determined as Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC).Under REACH, interested parties are allowed to submit comments within 45 days, or 16 October 2020.


The information of the two substances for public comment is shown in the following table:

The identification process for SVHC includes a 45-day public comment period.Once a substance is identified as SVHC, it is included in the list of candidates established by REACH, and its inclusion in the list of candidates imposes direct legal obligations on the supplier of the substance, such as:


  • Provide safety technical specification;
  • Safe use communication;
  • Reply to customer's request within 45 days;
  • Notification to ECHA is required if the SVHC weight per manufacturer or importer exceeds 1 ton per year and the SVHC content is above 0.1% (w/W).
