The state of automobile banned substances supervision status

At present, China's standard for the control of prohibited Substances in automobiles is GB/T 30512-2014 Requirements for Prohibited Substances in Automobiles, which has been implemented since 2014.On April 28, 2017, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology publicly solicited opinions on six proposed mandatory national standard plans, including the Requirements for Prohibited Substances in Automobiles.

On March 13, 2019, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) organized the drafting of the national mandatory Standard "Requirements for Prohibited Substances in Automobiles", which is to amend the existing recommended national standard "GB/T 30512-2014 Requirements for Prohibited Substances in Automobiles", and the new standard is expected to be completed in 2021.The revision mainly includes three aspects: changing the recommended standards to mandatory standards, increasing the types of banned substances and adjusting the list of banned substances exemption. After the amendment, in addition to some parts or materials due to technical and cost factors to give a certain period of exemption, other parts/materials of the vehicle are prohibited to use lead, cadmium, mercury, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls and polybrominated biphenyls, asbestos, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and other harmful substances.

GST reminds relevant enterprises to pay attention to control the restricted substances of other parts/materials of the whole vehicle to avoid legal risks. We have a professional technical team to track the latest development of regulations and standards for you, and help you to develop the most comprehensive and economical test plan.If you have any questions about automotive banned substances or other product compliance, please feel free to contact us.
