GST reminds entrepreneurs that the UK has left the EU and that the transition period for the UK to leave the EU will end this year. This article will briefly introduce UCKA, the UK product compliance mark, which will be implemented from 1 January 2021.
1.Sell in the UK
The UKCA logo is a new UK compliance product logo that will be used on goods marketed in the UK (England, Wales and Scotland). The UKCA logo is applicable to most products that currently require the CE logo.UKCA tags will be in use from 1 January 2021.However, in order to give companies time to adapt to the new requirements, in most cases, companies can still use the CE mark by January 1, 2022.
In some cases, businesses will be required to apply the new UKCA mark to goods sold in the UK from 1 January 2021 immediately.Businesses are encouraged to use the UKCA tag as soon as possible before this date.
From January 1, 2022, the CE mark will not be recognized in the UK.However, products bearing the CE mark can still be sold in the UK as long as they also carry the UKCA mark and comply with the relevant UK regulations. At the same time, medical devices have different applicable rules.
2. Selling in the EU
The UKCA logo will not be recognised on the EU market. This means that from January 1, 2021, products that currently require the CE mark will still require the CE mark.
3. How to mark it
Until January 1, 2023, companies will have the option to put the UKCA logo on their product labels or attached documents for most goods. From 1 January 2023, in most cases, businesses will have to paste the UKCA logo directly onto their products. For this reason, enterprises should consider adding the UKCA logo in the design process.
4. Declaration of Conformity in the United Kingdom
In the UK market, the Declaration of Conformity (DoC) will replace the Conformity statement of EU. The main difference between the two is that the names of the Regulations and standards are quoted. For example, for the same Toy Safety Directive, UK DoC should use "Toys (Safety) Regulations 2011", while EU should use "Toy Safety-directive 2009/48/EC", while UK should use the standard "BS EN 71-3:19".The European Union USES EN 71-3:20:19.
5. Products with UCKA logo shall be affixed
Toy safety, recreational and private vessels, simple pressure vessels, electromagnetic compatibility, non-automatic weighing equipment, measuring instruments, elevators, explosion protection, radio equipment, pressure equipment, personal protective equipment, gas appliances, machinery, outdoor noise, ecological design, aerosol products, low-voltage electrical appliances, hazardous substances limitation.
The UKCA logo covers products, but there are some special rules:
Medical equipment, railway interoperability, construction products, civil explosives.
